  • UDIM maps not recognised

hello and thank you for your awesome work on modo, I simply love your skin shader

I'm not using UDIM folder method, only simples UDIM maps

I have a mesh and I set a material to it, let say costume
than I create a vraymaterial and I stack two maps, let say "costume_1002_diffusecolor" and " "costume_1003_diffusecolor" in the group material

I set the texturelocator to reset instead of repeat and use a vmtlDiffuseColor effect for these two maps

no texture are showing up, only the default colro of the v-ray material

in imagestill the correct udim number is used and it's working well with the modo preview render but nothing with v-ray

perhaps it comes from the name convention I'm using that is not good ?

    thanks for your help

The UDIM channel in the image still is not supported by V-Ray for MODO at the moment.

You need to load the images as an image folder and follow the MARI naming convention, which I think you are already doing.
    Then it should work.

thanks a lot for your quick reply

I will use the image folder technique but we have less control over textures maps

I'm using Substance Painter not Mari and I use a personal script to import my textures and get the udim channel right

I hope this feature will be added one day

      thanks again

Yes, it is true, you have less control this way.

If you follow the UDIM naming convention, there is no need to use a script to set the UDIM channel correctly.
It will be picked up automatically.

Also note that for V-Ray for MODO, it is enough to have only 1 UDIM image in the image folder, the rest will be picked up automatically based on the UDIM naming scheme.
