  • Status of Vray for Nuke

Are you planning further development? Vray6 has been out for years. Nuke is at version 15.1.

Is vray for Nuke abandoned at this point?

Sure would be nice. Or at least a status update?

Looks like that Vray for Nuke is closed, as there is no update. Also would be great to have seamless tranfer cameras from 3ds max to Nuke via USD

Starting from Nuke15, the Foundry decided to redesign Nuke viewport to be entirely USD based which would have require us to invest a lot of time and effort in rewriting code to support it. It was decided this resource investment would impact other more important priorities and products we are working on. So basically at this point there is no plan to further support V-Ray for Nuke on newer Nuke platforms due to this reason.
However we are still supporting the free Nuke plugins - V-Ray Denoiser and V-Ray LensEffects - as those are not impacted by Nuke viewport redesign.

Maybe there was ever a need for 3d renderer in 2d comp app, however with rendering getting faster and faster out of 3d it's needed less and less, we certainly never had the need to use vray in nuke.
