  • Swarm Issues

    Good Day,
I am helping a non technical friend setup his revit v-ray swarm. Everyime we try to use one of the servers to render we get these errors:

[Error] Error while adding DR node http://ipremoved:24267/vray-swarm/1.2: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

We would like to ask you for some additional information in order to troubleshoot the issue further.
Please click on Settings in V-Ray tool bar then select swarm in the list on the right, send us a screen shot of the result.
When you run a render with V-Ray Swarm enabled from Revit, in the "V-Ray Rendering Progress" window expand the settings under Distributed Rendering, click on the "Launch V-Ray Swarm" button in the right corner. It will connect to the current Swarm master in a web browser. It will look like:
    http:IPaddress:21267/log
Click on it and check if all machines are visible in its Network tab:
    http:IPaddress:21267/network

Please get vray-swarm.log from the this machine. By default it is located in:
    C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\R oaming\Chaos Group\vray-swarm\work\vray-swarm

You can send this directly to support@chaosgroup.com

I have exactly the same error message. I have a ticket open as well @ chaosgroup. Where you able to fix it yet?

Has anyone had any progress on this? I am having a heck of a time trying to get these render nodes to work. Even tried a fresh windows installation, but still getting errors.

Yes, Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package is missing from the base vray install package. That is what I got from support and it solved my issue. Working great now, with Revit 2017. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Please install the following package on the render node - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=14632
After that - restart V-Ray Swarm service (Run->services.msc->right-click and restart on the service) and try rendering with that ode again.

I can confirm this worked for me as well. Also using for Revit.

I'm getting the same error at the end of rendering with swarm "Failed to add DR node <Machine name> (<IP Adress>)"
I'm using Revit 2020 with V-Ray 5. Should I still download the same Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package?

                Hi tracy_downs,

How have you installed V-Ray render node on the machine which failed to connect to? Have you used the same installer as the one of V-Ray 5 for Revit plugin?

Are you using some sort of VPN or remoting tools? Is this machine accessible in your network through the file system? Is the problem constant and does it happen for other machines in your network?

Please give us the exact version of your installation shown in the About window.

                Best,

I used this to install swarm on the render node machine. https://download.chaosgroup.com/?platform=47&product=58
I used https://download.chaosgroup.com/?lic...186&product=47 to install the V-Ray plugin for my machine.

I am not using any VPN or remoting tools other than the built in windows "Remote Desktop Connection" occasionally to install things. The machine is local (other side of the room from me). I don't know if it happens to other machines as this is the only other machine i'm using. It seems to render still. When i check the swarm UI, it shows the core being utilized 100% when rendering.

                  My PC:
                  V-Ray for Revit 5.10.07
                  V-Ray Core 5.10.03
                  NeUI 2.1.3
                  AppSDK 3.00.00

                  thanks.

tanya.petrova got anything to help? Still having this issue and when I try to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (both x86 and 64) it asks if I want to repair it.

                      Hi tracy_downs,

Please contact our support team with link to this thread so they will organize a remote session that will let us quickly review your setup and solve the issues. It seems it will be tough only through messages exchange. Repairing the redistributable is one thing to try but I am not sure it is really related to your problem.

                      Thanks,
