  • Dome Light and Shadows.

Is it possible to have shadows when using dome lighting? Having an environment for window reflections is nice but I would like shadows as well.

That's depends on the HDRI you use, don't know in Revit, but in 3dsMax you can def see shadows with dome lights.

Ok I guess technically there are faint traces of shadows. Was hoping for something a bit more obvious I suppose. Thank You.

You can add a direct light or change your HDRI's gamma. Some of my HDRI's look good out of the box, some .95 works and others .75.

          Hi Kraig,

In my opinion, there is not a reason not to see shadows when rendering with an HDR image.
As the lighting in this case is based on the HDR image you use, the shadows might be cast towards such direction that you cannot see them clearly. Have you tried rotating the HDR image? (as well as increasing its intensity)

Sorry for the maybe silly question, but how do you edit the gamma of the HDRI image? I don't think there's any way to control that from the current VRay for Revit interface - you can just assign/change the .hdri image and adjust it's intensity.
