  • Bug: texture lock doesn't allow any other ratio than 1:1

    Hi,

for example if I set 1 and 2 and try to lock the ratio, than it is changed to 1:1 and locked.

    Best regards,
    Micha

    Dear Micha, hello.

This is the expected behavior or correct me If something is misunderstood.
In general the Lock option uses the first value for both U and V.

It was the same in V-Ray 3 and V-Ray Next.

    Best regards,
    TS

Yes, That is the expected behavior, but it will be a good idea if we could have an option to lock the aspect ratio as in Rhino UVW Repeat.
I'm with Micha, I would like to be able to find the correct aspect of the images and then lock it to be able to change the overall scale of the materials, but keeping the aspect ratio.

      Best,

tsvetomira.girginova Most of the time I use Rhino's repeat options, but sometimes I need to use the V-Ray option. In Rhino I can set a good looking ratio and lock it so I can change the texture scale without losing the ratio. It would be great if V-Ray could adopt this behavior as it is much more useful. So if someone needs a 1:1 lock, they can still do that, but a lock at 3:2 is impossible right now. So we would get more functionality.

For example, I have a noise texture and I stretch it to get a brush effect. I would set the ratio to 1:10. If I see that the brush grain is too dense, I would just lock it and set 2:20 by changing one of the numbers.

          Thanks for the details, Micha.

The thread was started as reporting a bug, that's why I wanted to clear out that this is a wishlist topic.
We will discuss what could be made in this direction.

You can add my vote to this item. A 1:1 UV lock is helpful but a UV proportion lock allows for both behaviours so is far more useful.
