Exposure change with DOF

Hey, I've noticed in 3.0 that when I turn Depth of Field on, my exposure changes so I have to adjust the Exposure Value to compensate.
Don't remember that happening in 2.0. Here's a couple of images to illustrate:

This is a side affect of using a Physical Camera with a short focus distance. The best way to address this would be to use a focal length between 100-200mm and dolly the camera out further. This would simulate an actual setup a photographer would use with jewelry.
