  • Vray NEXT Trial

    Hi There.
We have the latest VRay but i wanted to try the Vray NEXT that was just released as a trail to see before upgrading.
However when the installation is complete (trial version) it says it cant obtain a vray GUI license.

Tried uninstalling and re-installing a few times but no luck.....

    Please advise

    Cheers

              Hello,

It is not possible to use V-Ray Next for SketchUp and other previous versions simultaneously. Upon installing V-Ray Next, V-Ray 3 will be uninstalled. This applies the other way around as well - to get V-Ray 3 back, you would first need to uninstall V-Ray Next and then reinstall V-Ray 3.
To access older installers, visit https://download.chaosgroup.com/?platform=56 and check "Show older versions".
Keep in mind V-Ray is not forward-compatible, meaning V-Ray 3 is not guaranteed to work properly with scenes saved using V-Ray Next.
On a side note, if you purchase a V-Ray Next license it will work with V-Ray 3, allowing you to complete unfinished projects with V-Ray 3 if needed.

              Kind regards,
              Peter

                Hi Peter,
I'm using your workaround with registry edit for switching between V-Ray 3 and 4 and it works just fine. (Only I can't find it atm)

                Cheers

That workaround was suitable for beta testing. As noted in the disclaimers I've posted in the beta forum, we cannot recommend switching registry data for commercial users.

                  Kind regards,
                  Peter
