i see the supplied pre-installed materials in vision, but i do not see my own materials
    Why?

    Hi raba,

Please keep in mind that, currently, some procedural textures, as well as complex material or texture shaders will not appear the same way they do in V-Ray. You can refer to this post for known limitations in V-Ray Vision: https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...r-useful-notes
We are, however, working on adding support for all V-Ray plugins. We will additionally make a list of supported features for Vision and will update you on the matter as soon as possible.

That being said, if you are using TexBitmaps inside the diffuse slot and you are unable to see them, please do share a scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can investigate further. Make sure to mention this thread in the email.

please also understand that on the one hand I am a Vray beginner and now it seems that the software is not yet mature.
It becomes even more difficult for me to understand where the errors are actually coming from.

raba Maybe it's better you don't use vision, since it's to young and could lead to frustration. The classic engines of V-Ray works quite well and is matured for a daily pro work. For me Vision looks like a WIP alpha version, good for testing and helping to improve future technology.

            Hi raba,

Vision is still not mature but this should not stop you using it.
It is a 'game engine', sort of an alternative viewport.
            Its greatest strength is speed.
Sometimes the quality of a game engine is sufficient for the client (or any other audience) and that's when it shines.
You can literally produce images from multiple camera angles or scene configurations in minutes - something not possible with a ray-tracer.
You can also render video sequences in almost realtime (camera animations only at this stage).
It's main limitations right now are the lighting quality and missing V-Ray features support.
The reason for this - limitations of rasterization (in general) and the initial state of this feature.

As for a beginner I'd also recommend you start getting familiar with the core raytracing engine - V-Ray.
This way you'll get comfortable managing materials, lights, etc. without worrying about what's supported and what isn't.
Vision will still be available to you at any point for exploring the scene in realtime or exporting some images quickly.

And back to your original question:
The reason why your shader does not show in Vision is you're possibly using an unsupported texture (a procedural map maybe).
Supporting all the V-Ray procedurals in Vision is, I believe, not something we will ever be able to achieve.
For some of the textures this is an impossible task because of differences between the ray tracer and the rasterizer.
For others it'll lead to a severe slowdown in the viewer which defeats the purpose of using a real-time viewer in the first place.
The good news is that the most common materials do not require the use of procedural maps.
Standard bitmap textures and most of the color corrections are already supported in Vision which should have you covered in most cases.

It would also be great if you can share the material you have problems with.
I'll be able to tell you the exact reason why it doesn't work and whether it will work in the future.

            Regards,
            Konstantin

              thank's for your feedback Konstantin.
as already said I have too little experience to understand everything. Maybe I also make mistakes when creating my material...!?
