Virtual Reality in mov format - a free quick start

    I have the same problem
It seems like the camera is placed far away and I just get the horizontal line!
How dose the camera dist. relates to the interior?

This is the image with the box-cam. (same pos.)

This is the image with the cylindrical-cam. FOV 360 (same pos.)

    est regards,

Ahh, I see - I have used the spherical camera with 360?. The cylindrical dosn't work, because the 360? FOV makes no sense in vertical direction. The cylindrical point camera is useable f the FOV is < 180? only.

Sorry, I have overseen that I have used the spherical camera.

            Micha!

How do you control the image quality?
It seems like the *.jpg image looses much of its quality after being rebuild to a panoramic view!
            My render-image is 1600 x 800 and the pano-output is 800 x 600!
I have used the script file to change the size and quality of the output?
            est regards,

I have the same problem and think, we need a bigger rendering resolution. If you render an image with a high of 800, than my rule is that I don't use more as a mov height of 400.
For a mov of 800x600 I would like to render an image with 2400x1200.

I have not tested it, but maybe it's good - Pano2QTVR - a free tool to convert a pano rendering to a mov.

Pano2QTVR is a great free tool. Much control is possible. For sharp movie I recommend interpolation lanczos3. Should work in many languages.

                      is a great tool.
I use it all the time with the panosphotos I make from my 8mm fisheye.

But in Vray something weired happens to the top and bottom of the image?
Maybe you need 2 or 3 sherical pictures for a good one?

looks like this...go to the top or bottom.

                      http://85.124.199.50/render/eingang.mov

                      http://85.124.199.50/render/dachboden.mov

looks like something is missing from the picture.
                      Any ideas?

I suppose so you have done something wrong. Look at the example at the tutorial section - no panorama artefacts. Maybe you use a wrong camera type.

I cant figure out what I have done wrong...
I rendered with the settings from the pano tutorial.
                          that is the file
                          http://85.124.199.50/panovray.jpg

It looks like there is about 1cm missing on the upper and lower picture border

What about the render size? the image ratio is not 2:1 but pano2QTVR doesnt require the correct ratio, just the information that the output should be 360x180...

I will try to render a 1600x800 picture now.

                            Ok...now it is working.
                            I had to render 2:1

                            http://85.124.199.50/dach2.mov

Micha...is there a material tutorial also?
There is a Vray database for 3Ds materials...can those be converted to VfR or are they completly different materials?

Is there a way to make vray like Maxwell with its own platform independent material database?
I also like the idea that you can keep on working when rendering with maxwell.
It is good that you can use so many settings but you have to load all render settings when you restart rhino again.
Finding good settings is a bit*h.
Well...it is deffinitely me...I am kind of lazy learning all those stuff...but I fell no need to learn everything when others have already made better materials than I will ever archive!!!
Maybe I am doing everything wrong and have not found the good tutorials...
But then I am architect and photographer...no full time 3D artist.

I hope some day I can work with VfR like I do with Photoshop.
