    I usually choose between 500-2000 (on average either 1000 or 1500). Higher subDivs mean that the LC will have more lighing detail (more accurate secondary illumination)

      And turn on 'check sample visibility', that will get rid of light leaks.

      50 to 75 subdivs for ir map is usually enough. And -3/-1 should also be ok on that resolution.

      Lights subdivs only matter to the GI if you have uses 'store with IR map'. And even then there is only a difference between 0 and 20 or something.

      Don't go to small on your lightcache samples, that's not good either. It will create more noise unless you use higher subdivs. 1000 and 0.005 (screen) is usually good.
