  • Antialiasing usage problem

    Hallo,

I have an interior scene with much detailed textures and blury reflections. The adaptive QMC 1/4 is very fast and give me all details of the textures. But one problem are the missing "rand" and "object outline" options. The edges show aliasing effects. If I use the adaptive subdivision, than the edges looks much better, but the textures need a strong treshold and the render times are much longer.

My questions are: are the missing rand/outline options in the QMC sampler a current mistake of the interface or is it not possible to implement it together?
Can I use special parameters for the Adaptive Subdivision so that I get speed, detailed textures and smooth edges?

The QMC sampler is always (quasi-)randomized so it doesn't need a Rand option. It also doesn't have the Outline option, as it cannot be implemented easily. Instead, you have to use the QMC Noise threshold to get better antialiasing (e.g. lower values will give better results). Also, you can try to increase the max subdivs value.

I'll be sure to pull those things out of the ui..Sorry about that

Could it be possible to use the rand/outline/norma options for the fixed sampling?

Well, the Fixed sampling is a short cut for QMC sampling where the min and max rates are the same. So, the same things applies to it as well (e.g. it is always (quasi-)randomized etc).
