        tutorials

        Corey,

Very well done! I really like the clear cut simplicity of the tutorials. It really helps grasp the information without being confused from overly technical information.

        Getting Started:
You might want to clarify at "Set Up A Scene" the material is to be a Rhino basic material verses :simple". This way, its following Rhino names. Otherwise A+

        Mesh Settings:
Last paragraph, third sentance, "because it all of the bounces..."

        Render Option:
Excellent tutorial! Very easy to understand thanks to the clear cut simplicty. It catches just the right amount of technical understanding without having to be a programmer to understand.

Thank you for this... Keep them coming!

        Cheers,
        Bill

little update at Tutorial M Material: architecture glass can be colored: "Update: colored glass without refraction layer can be rendered, if a black diffuse layer is added. Now, the color can be controlled by the transparency color."

looks great Micha. It would be good if you mention why the wood texture is set to .45 gamma, because I think many people will not understand this.

I am using your scene of the velociraptor for a product shot.
Your setup seems too bright. I would like to keep the background white, but for now, I have to put my colors very very close to black to get them appear dark. What do you suggest to reduce ? the multiplier of the rectangular light ?

Also, if I have a hdr that I would like to be reflected on the material. To put it on the background only is it ok or do I need also to to map it in the GI ? I don't want to mess up the light setup, just to have something to reflect on the objects.
                              ...
In gamma 2.2 workflow all colors are looking brighter than in the rhino color chooser, because the colors don't have a gamma .45 yet and a corrected twice. If you need defined colors, you must create color textures. Bad workflow, but the next SR will bring gamma correction for colors too.

Yes, you can set a HDRI in the env slot only, but maybe the rendering looks a little bit wrong, because the lighting is missing from the env. For product shot I use simple HDRIs, like the classic building HDRI, with a low intensity and additional arealights.
