    Hi,
    here what I am looking for.

    I think that is we use the default clear glass of vray material, the side will pop up like the background or black. I think the best way to achieve "realistic glass shelves" is to extract the side and apply another material with a fresnel reflection.
    also with that kind of "all glass design" the environmental background is quite important. what are your best ? Shelves are flat so it's more difficult to catch something like a glass dragon for instance.
    I browsed the dosh hdri and mixed it with micha velociraptor scene.

      I take the default clear glass and just add a fog color to the refraction slot ?
      hummm. but don't it changes the surface area in addition of the sides ? I think that yes.

          I don't understand the previous post. Sorry my english is not the best. The for color dosn't work for you?

          Your last example looks a little bit strange - I see no refraction effect. The dark stripes of the middle column goes straight through all glass faces. Is this right?

          How many bounce you have set? I we would have the same control like 3dsMax we could set an exit color to fake the missing internal bounces (at the moment per default black).

            where do you set the number of bounce ? I don't see it.

            yep, there is a refraction default to 1.55
            and a reflective layer with fresnel to default.

            I add a fog color.

            I'm just doing a test with caustic now.

              Quick test: glass material

              - reflection: Fresnel 1.55
              - refraction: fog color (HSV) (150 2 254) + affect shadows
              - global switch: 4 bounce

              Important ... low saturation (2) and less attenuation (254)

                    Hi Joeb,
                    it would be nice to have this defined by user exit color in the Next Release if you can. But I'm probably asking too complicated. I do a lot of glass and plexi now and right now I extract thoses surfaces and apply another material for them.

                      I can make the request to Chaos Group, or ask them if its an easy fix I could add myself to the glass shader. It isn't there at this time though
