I believe you might be referring to an RDK feature. The "Displacement" tab that comes up from the object property menu is not a V-Ray for Rhino page. It is related to McNeel's RDK (render development kit). That is what we use for texture mapping functionality. Perhaps if you look on the mcneel discussion boards someone might be able to help you more.
