Yeah, the vismat converter really isn't all that great, it only looks at very basic information. Writing down the information and manually setting the parameters in our plugin works much better.

why don't you just write down the parameters of the material in a piece of paper or a text file, and in Rhino try to recreate the material? that way you avoid any error on screen.

also aren't OBJ files better than 3ds file extension? im just saying.....

Yes i already thought, but never tried. Not yet.
Anyway, it's a good way to improve and understand better the material editor.
