  • New VISMAT converter

I see that a newer VISMAT converter was posted at the end of Feb. Is this one better than the previous version, which cannot export complex materials?

    Re: New VISMAT converter

I'm not sure whether its actually newer or not. Chances are its just the date from when the website itself was updated not the actual converter.

The ability for the converter to export complex materials is an expression of whether there is a correlation between settings used in the max material and a setting in vfr. Since there are a number of things in Max that have no complement in vfr, the material cannot be exported. Some things that fit the bill of the top of my head (since I can't open Max at the moment) are advanced falloff textures, max toon shaders, some procedurals. Hopefully that explains things a little more.

      Re: New VISMAT converter

The VISMAT converter has not been updated yet, we're still concentrating on getting the latest version of V-Ray for Rhino and V-Ray for Sketchup. Once they're released, we can look in to updating the converter plugins for Max. Dalomar was correct, the new February date is showing, because we made some changes to our site, and had to re-upload some files. The VISMAT converter was one of those files. We apologize for the confusion.
