  • Material Scaling?

I am applying materials to my objects but the details of the material are huge. Example: When I used Brushed Metal material, the grain of the metal is about 2-3 inches long and very deep. Regardless of the size of the object, the material doesn't scale with the object size. The bigger the object, the bigger the material details get. How can I fix this to make the materials more realistic in scale and detail?

This is all new for me so forgive me if there is a simple fix.

Notice the grain on the "Brushed Metal". This is jsut a quickly rendered example.

    Re: Material Scaling?

How do you apply the brushed look? using a bitmap as a bump map? or a filter? either way, when you load up the bitmap, there are options for repeat U and repeat V.
Making the number bigger will make your texture repeate more, making it smaller.

    hope this helps

      Re: Material Scaling?

If you switch your texture mapping to planer and click "show mapping" you can adjust the scale and repetition of your maps by manipulating the mapping widget. Fernando did a great demonstration of this in the webinar "Basic UV Mapping" that you can view in the support section.
