  • Ideal Vray and Bongo Computer Hardware Setup

I've been playing around with Bongo and VRay and wanted to know if anybody had an ideal hardware configuration they've been using. Right now I've noticed to spread out the animation renderings via Distributed Rendering slows down the rendering time and could be prone to crashing. However, if you have the animation rendering on a single computer with alot of processor power it renders pretty steady. The third option being having the same file opened among 2 or 3 computers with each computer rendering a frame in sequence of one another.

Does anybody know any equipment to boost a single computer's processor power or can recommend a single workstation that could crunch a bongo animation by itself? Our Marketing Dept. is demanding flicker free HD quality animations which leads me to try using the DMC + LC settings that SchultzeWorks talked about a few years back for his Philco animation.

And this is quite a good option, if you set the render output of all machines to the same network drive, than the computers "know" which frame can be rendered as next. Bongo place a placeholder file of the current rendered frame so that no other computer start at the same frame.

It's such a pity that McNeel is not interested to support this way. I asked for that Rhino can be opened for rendering only without additional licenses (save of the rhino file could stay disabled), but I found deaf ears only.

Why not simply use Rhino Trial? If you say the save function can be disabled, isn't that all that is disabled in the Trial version? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree Micha, I noticed you responded a few years back with that exact same recommendation. It's been the only way we've rendered since your recommendation.

Our company has been getting move involved in Bongo / Vray renderings and I'd like to set us up with a killer computer hardware system to handle the load.

We've been fortunate to have a budget to allow for some Dell Servers to be a dedicated render farm...has anything else popped up since? From what the IT dept has told us, they've matched the specs on what a RenderBoxx would be able to output. Lol I'm slightly computer retarded so I'm going with their word on that one.

The trial dosn't allow to use plugins?

@PS: I'm curious about the monster machine, but I have no experience at this range.
