  • Error Message and Install Failed

    Hi All,
I tried installing the bew build on my just loaded Rhino 5 release version. When I do so near the end of the install I get a pop up box that says

"Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly. Error running c:\users\chuck_64\AppData\Local\Tempvcredist_vs201 0_x64.exe/q/norestart: Program ended with an error exit code."

And apparently they are right because Vray does not load with Rhino and is not available as a render option. I actually tried loading it twice. The first time I tried loading it over my previous version of Vray allowing the program to "uninstall" whatever it asked to uninstall. The second time I went into windows and uninstalled both Vray and the wibukey program. Both times the installed failed in the same way.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    chuck

    Hi Again,
I think the error may be related to the C++ redistributable files but I don't know enough about what I should do to rectify the situation. I cannot find the file above vscredist_vs2010_x64.exe. I can however find one vscredist/vs2005_x64.exe.

I have several C++ files on my drive marked Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable... and several also marked Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable...

I am reticend to begin tampering with or deleting them because of my limited knowledge. Also ome of these may be used by other plug-ins or programs.

    thanks,
    chuck

      Hi,

Can you try to download and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package
      *for x86: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...s.aspx?id=5555
      *for x64: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=14632
then disable/uncheck it from the installation components.
