  • rendering sketch up model

    Hi,

I downloaded a piece of furniture from google's 3d warehouse, and I imported the sketchup file into rhino.
However, when I try to render my sketchup model in rhino using v-ray, the model doesn't render.
It is invisible in my v-ray rendering.
Why is this? How can I fix this problem?

    I'd appreciate your help!

sometimes sketchup materials don't render properly in vray for rhino - the meshes look one-sided or inside out. try assigning a new material to the geometry. make sure you explode blocks first.

Thank you so much for your help.

      Assigning new materials worked.

      Thank you.

        Steps to resolve this issue:

1.) Explode & Ungroup the object.
        2.) Select the object.
3.) Properties > Material > Assign material by "Layer"
4.) Assign your own material to the layer which has this object.

          answer from an expert:

"Most of the time when this happens, it is due to a corrupted materials. Go to Global Switches and enable the "override materials", if you are able to see the render, then it is a material issue, if you still getting an invisible render, then could be geometry."
