  • VRAY 2.0 SP1 visConvertRhinoMat

    Hello everyone,
I read the specifications of the SP1 and there is talk of a converter material standard of rhino in vray materials.
    someone with some detailed information?
It seems to me a very important feature to open the way for a real use of object libraries type of Evermotion, if you import a scene from obj file should convert automatically the standard materials in vray material to be edited, it would avoid a lot of wasted time.
Tell me that you can ..
    thanks

    Luke,

V-Ray for Rhino automatically converts Rhino materials before you render behind the scenes. If you are interesting in using this converted material as a starting point for your V-Ray Material you can use visConvertRhinoMat command to generate new V-Ray materials off of the Rhino materials on selected objects. The workflow is pretty easy, just select 1 or many rhino objects with a Rhino material applied by object, and run the command. Once you run the command, you should have a V-Ray material that you can edit customize more. In the current SP it only works with materials applied by object.

Unfortunately, the visconvertRhinoMaterial command is crashing Rhino most of the time. Matt fixed that, but the fix is not in the SP1
