  • Share materials with Max?

I taught that with V-Ray 2 it was now possible to share materials with V-Ray for Max...
If so, how do we export vrmat files from Max? Is there some features that won't make the trip?

    Thanks!

    Is there a way?

If there's no way, I'll replicate the settings from screengrabs

.vrmat is a new material in V-Ray for 3ds Max. So, if you save the VfR material as vrmat, you can use it on 3ds max. If you are in 3ds max there is a tool inside the Tool menu called "V-Ray Vrmat converter" that you can use to convert .mat into vrmat. Then you can use that vrmat into V-Ray for Rhino. There are some feature limitations. For ex, if the .mat material is a V-Ray blend material, we are not going to be able to convert that, because VFR does not have the V-Ray blend material.

and that is a shame, that a renderer like VFR still don't have a blend material,

          Thanks Fernando, we'll try that.
And I'm with Renée on this, it seems most interesting materials done in Max are VRayBlend...

I agree with you guys. That material is at the top of our to do list for the next mayor V-Ray build (3.0)
