  • V-ray GPU issues

I tried to render and v- ray doesn`t recognize the GPU. I don`t know why . it is the first time this happens

I replied to your other thread here

We are aware of this behavior, and deployed multiple fixes for other DCCs already. A hotfix comes out soon for SketchUp

Can I ask when this hotfix is coming? Vray with Sketchup GPU has been useless since the last update, I'm really struggling to get any work out which for such expensive software is a joke. The multiple fixes you've deployed have made no discernible difference please get it fixed ASAP

        Hi sam_moretondeakin,

I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience.
Can you please give us more details about the issues you've faced?
If you have specific scenes causing issue, please share an example.

        Thank you in advance,
        Konstantin

I’m having issues with all scenes ! Either complex or with simple geometry! It is useless without the GPU.

            Can you describe the issues?
Does the rendering start or you see errors?
Can you share a simple scene that shows the issue?
Also it would help if you share your computer specification as well as the SketchUp and V-Ray version that you use.

What do you mean by this?

              Hello,
The issue is and still remains that I always have the same error. With CUDA I can`t render anything. I always have the same error saying there isn`t enough memory. I even checked how much it is being using during rendering and it was not even at 10%
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.30 GHzam using the latest version of Sketchup and the latest for Vray .
I say is useless because rendering only with the CPU takes a very long time and if i still have these problems it is not worth paying every year if it doesn`t work properly .

                Hi oana_bijan1

We still unable to reproduce this crash on our side
Is it possible to upload a sample scene for us to investigate?
What GPU do you have on this machine? This is most likely related to your hardware, we will check and confirm

Yeah, this GPU has 4 GB of memory. You shouldn't expect much from it
You can look into an eGPU box, if you have Thunderbolt connection in your laptop.
Other than that, you can try to resize textures to smaller resolution. But again, it is a very basic GPU

I have got my hands on the same laptop you have, I will do some testing between 5.1 and 5.2 and report back soon
I will test with the scenes we use internally, but feel free to upload one of your scenes if possible. It will help as well
If we still cannot reproduce I will ask you for a remote session to take a look at your setup, hopefully we get to know what the errors are about

                        Best,
