    Hi guys,

    One of the posts in this forum section was causing issues because of its label and the message could not be accessed.
    The original forum post was deleted and the current one was created instead.

    Check if you are not running out of RAM.
    You can do that in the Task Manager under Performance > Memory

      slavcho.brusev that does appear to be the problem. Even with 128GB of DDR4 RAM. I 'solved' the problem today by removing the Skatter grass, and replacing it with a low-poly version I made myself. It gives me an OK density of grass. I'll try a different build for my next render so that I can try VRAY fur. Many thanks for the reply.

        What is the size of the terrain you were scattering the Skatter grass on?
        Did you use "Render-only"?

          The terrain is about 45mx45m. I ALWAYS use Render-Only.

            64GB of RAM should be plenty enough for a 45mx45m terrain.

            Did you import the Skatter grass as "Proxy" or "High-Poly"?

                Oh, that could be the reason.
                With V-Ray, you should stick with proxies, it will be much lighter on your system.

                      JBB, if I'd known that I would have been more effuse in my praise. Skatter (2) is AMAZING. It has a superb marketplace (I bought the big vines pack), and it's ability to affect by slope and the like is superb. It's one of the easiest and most intuitive programs I've used in ages. I may add that the manual makes that easy as it's full and spot on, and written in plain English. It's the first time I've seen Sketchup do a 'chaos/noise' function well, and it makes it hold it's own in some ways with something like UE4.

                      Thanks for developing Skatter it makes my life better.

                      PS The free long grass from Skatter was sooooooo much better than my efforts.
