  • distributed rendering

    Here is what I did.
    Run DRSpawner.exe at slave computer.
Add the IP of slave in the setting
check 'enable asset collection' and 'send to shared folder' and select network folder which can be used for both computers.

When I try render, I can see 4 buckets w/ two computer's names at the first frame only, then it seems like normal - only 2 buckets of mine. I used incremental IR+LC.
I check the CPU usage of slaves. At the first frame it's aboout 90% used, after that it changes between 0 to 20~30% and and it doesn't say any error. Why does this happen?

    Please help!!!

    Tj

    p.s.
By the way it's very sad when I find out VFR logo at the 'About' menu in the VFSU! :P

I'll have to do some testing - I suppose there is an issue with DR and animations perhaps. Could you send me your scene? Thanks

      Re: distributed rendering

Has there been any progress on this problem. I haven't tried this myself yet, but I would really like to use V-ray for animations. I have been searching for a good distributed rendering capability for animations without having to buy a dedicated render machine or spending a lot on software.

      Thanks for any info,

        Re: distributed rendering

We are working on eliminating this issue for the upcoming service release. DR is very important for all of our users - especially in the context of animation, so we are taking it seriously.

          Re: distributed rendering

Try a bigger image, higher resolution. This would give time to the slaves to send back their info to the main computer an then enter in calculations again. Just a guess....

          Good luck!

            Re: distributed rendering

Please nip this bug and I'll totally drop the office budge on the Vray 4 SU solution! I'm very happy with the plug-in except for this limitation. It's so sad to watch 20+ cores tear through frame one and then see four lonely cores left on their own. The DS spawner seems to be communicating with all the slaves for each frame but no chew... I beg you! I'm sold other wise...

              Re: distributed rendering

Ok guys, I tried the RC2 and yes Dr works again but withe the same bug as in v1.00. On animations only the fist farme ist rendered by all machines, after this only the host has to do the work

PLEASE get this Damn DR to work properly.

              :'(

                Re: distributed rendering

Just started rendering animations today and running into the same issues with SR1, except it's a few frames in (3 or 4 frames or so) - any updates yet?
