  • Slowdowns in material editor

    hi all,
    Title says it all.

Sometimes the material editor slows down , most of the time when trying to assign a vraymat to objects or when editing a component or materials nested in components or when deleting a vraylinked material etc...

Perhaps this is not a bug...more something that needs to be optimised in terms of memory manangement?

    i have it too.
But if you have many objects this one material like components(i have it from import from archicad), try to make single "mesh" with texture: explode items and group it by texture...

      True,
But exploding isn't good in my case because that would screw up my file.
I work using layers and groups/components so they can be switched off on hugh model files.
Otherwise Sketchup stands still (SU has a major memory leak/optimisation issue).
      Exploding would make editing impossible...

But thanks for that tip. For smaller files this is useful.

When you are applying a material to many sub-objects it will definitely take some time. But if you are experiencing this slowdown with only a few sub-objects then there is definitely a problem. But I'm always on the look-out for ways to speed up our interactions with Sketchup.
