vray sketch up mac os / material editor crashes

hey everybody...
first of all i hope that i didnt miss the topic if it already exists...
i downloaded the trial version of vray for sketch up mac osx...
i was so curious about it and now im very unhappy because i cant use the material editor.
everytime i try to update any material sketch up crashes.
it renders without any problems...sadly without any material too!
does anybody know a solution for this?

SAME HERE. In about an hours work i got 4-5 crash >
I can add materials OK and render fine. BUT got to save every move!
Also after rendering Skp tools won't work. I have to use orbit in order to use other tools? ???
I know it have just ben release but really disappointed at the moment.

You said that every time you "update" a material, SketchUp crashes. What do you mean by update? Are you rendering a material preview? Are you importing a material? Are you changing some settings in a material? Also, are you "updating" the material in the SU material editor, or the V-Ray material editor? You also said you can render without a problem... but it renders without any materials?

I think a video demonstrating your issues would be most helpful in diagnosing this issue. I recommend downloading a program called Jing. It will let you record what is happening and easily share it on this forum. Also, it would be helpful to see your error log.

We have never heard of a bug that prevents you from using SU tools... That's not good at all! Could you also post your error log?

hey dkendig...
with updating a material i meant generating a preview of the material.
sometimes vray starts to show the preview and crashes...sometimes it crashes without showing anything on the little preview ball.
loading materials is not a problem...the preview of the texture editor works absolutely fine.
but as sonn as i try to use the preview of the material editor it crashes.
im sorry...saying that it renders without any materials was not correct.
it renders the materials but i cant work with the programm right because i cant use the preview of the material editor...that was what i wanted to say.

You can't preview any materials at all? Not even a default Sketchup material that is loaded when you create a new scene in Sketchup?

Could you please tell us the operating system you're using, as well as the version of SketchUp you're using? I would also like to know what language your OS is in, this can cause some strange issues, because we speak English and program in English. Sometimes foreign characters cause some unexpected results. Also, if you could post a copy of your V-Ray for SketchUp error log, after one of these crashes occurs, that might shed some light on the issue too.

I've heard of crashes occurring when certain materials are previewed, but I haven't heard of every material preview crashing... this is concerning.

no i cant preview any material.not even the default material.
operating system is mac osx leopard...sketch up 7
language of the os is german...language of sketch up is english

the problem with the error log is that i cant find that little bastard...

Where is the VfS error log?
OS X:
/Applications/ASGVIS /VfS/vfs_stderr.txt

there is no folder VfS...so there is no txt file too

it's in the /tmp folder, I've updated the post explaining where to find the error log too. Thank you for pointing out my obvious mistake. Sometimes I think I need glasses for reality... not just vision.

no prob. nobodys perfekt...
but next problem...
there is no file in the tmp folder after sketch up crashes.
i even searched for the vfs_stderr.txt file with spotlight...no result
very very strange.
i thought maybe theres a problem with other rb files in the plugin folder but still the same problem with the material editor after deleting every other plugin...

/tmp is a hidden directory by default. You can get to it by opening finder, and then going to Go->Go to Folder. Then type in /tmp

:'( Although you did a great job copy and pasting the log here... the log failed to tell us what was wrong... -sigh- Perhaps a video of the issue will illuminate something I'm missing. Would it be possible for you to record a video of you recreating the issue? I recommend using Jing, or something similar to get the job done. It sounds like you're doing something very simple and something that should definitely work, so maybe there's one slight difference in the way you're doing this.
