dkendig, I don't get an error on my sketchup tools, it just freeze the rest of the tools until i use orbit
tool it will work fine.
Another issue it just take ages to load sketchup pro 7.1 file with larger file maps/jpegs on it?
and sometimes skp just crash. BUT when i down grade TO Sketchup 6.0 without Vray installed
no problem. Does VFS get information/data while sketchup is loading??
Using: Macpro 4 processor dual core intel xeon 2.66ghz 2gb, 256 mb Nvidia geforce 7300gt
osx 10.5+


I don't know how to attached PDF error log(20pages). It says a lot of libvray&ASGVIS.framework.

OK! This is my 3D scene: High rise building with medium size map/jpeg about 500kb-1mb textures in sketchup prop 7.1
Problem: Vray won't open file keep on crashing. Other 3D file loading taking to a long(small size 3d models)

I did a test moving from my mac machine to another Windows machine. Same problem taking awhile to load file and i have to stop it.
I unstalled VRAY in my window machine. Just a few seconds it is working. then i deleted all textures in this file move to
my MAC machine and fews second it just loaded perfectly with out any problem.

My conclusion is Vray can't handle large maps/jpegs in sketchup file and takes a long time to load and will crash.
I got no choice but to uninstall 30days demo vray in my mac. i hope i got another chance to test drive this later.
I need my sketchup to work properly for my bread and butter.

OK did another test using smaller maps and sketchup is behaving well.
I am just afraid to open other file with larger maps.

I also have this problem when rendering a preview of a material with displacement maps.
Regarding the unresponsive sketchup bug. Make sure you click in the sketchup window before using hotkeys etc. I also noticed that the sketchupwindow doesn't respond when I close a dialog window.

i just installed vray beta 1.48.67 and the material editor does not work: it crashes when I try to load a vismat, even simple ones, and it crashed after i set reflection and shiny glossiness and tried to update the material preview.

I am using Sketchup 7 Free, on Imac 24" 2.8 processor, running Snow Leopard.

same problem here. I use free sketchup 7.1.6859 Vray for mac su 1.48.66 Mac OS 10.5.8 macbook pro 2.4 gh` intel core duo (2 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3).

I bought the beta license first. But re-installed SU and VRay since the "proper" license had been released.

Regardless what material, it even crashes with a simple white or orange su colour. Even with the debug functions in vray. Although I had a preview ones when I used an "as installed" setting I saved when I got the beta version. But when I use the default setting in vray, SU crashes when hitting the material editor preview button.

I have personally found that the problem can exist due to a bad link to the image map. For instance, if you've downloaded a material or gotten it off a PC version, the link path is no longer valid on OSX.

If you're familiar with CAD, you can think of it as a missing path or change of folder location when XREFing.

Try to "repath" the link to the image file by browsing for it and save the material before hitting preview again.

This issue is something that needs to be resolved in a software update. You guys aren't doing anything wrong, this is a bug. As YPCX cleverly pointed out, we need to fix our code. If any of you out there that are experiencing this issue, would like to join up to be on of our beta testers, you could help test our latest build of the upcoming patch, and help ensure that this issue does not continue. For those of you who are not willing, or are not able to commit to beta testing, that is perfectly understandable that you would not want to spend your free time (or paid time for that matter) testing software. Unfortunately though, we have not finished patching this release, so until a path is released, you will not be able to resolve this issue. We have been busy working on this patch, and would like to release a patch (at least one to resolve major issues such as this) as soon as we get word from our testers that the patch is ready for public consumption.

I just download the trial version for Mac and I am experiencing the same problem as described above.
Hope to see it fixed before my trial period end.

if anyone ever wants to demo our product again in the future, all that needs to be done, is an email needs to be sent off with a demo request code, and a real brief explanation of why you sent the email. Either way, I would like to see the issue fixed before your demo runs out too CK.

Just downloaded the trail and what I have seen so far is very promising however I am having the same problem with the material editor crashing when I try to load a vismat material. Hope to see it fixed soon and i will definitely be purchasing this!
