File crashes with version 1.49.01

Hi to all.

I've been rendering this scene successfully with the previous version of Vray. But now that I've updated to version 1.49.01 it keeps crashing. (probably because of RAM limitations). Is there any reason why it would work before and not now? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

the error log has nothing in it, do you know how much RAM is being used? Our plugin does take up a bit more memory than it used to, so if you were just barely able to squeak by with the old version, the additional memory that the plugin takes up might be pushing it over the edge.

yeah, I think I was pushing it to the limit.... it was pretty much a test to see how many cars, trees and people I could add without it crashing.

I was rendering it at 7000 pixels wide by 2500 pixels high... but with the new vray, I can't get it to render anything larger than 1280 pixels wide.

Is there any workaround to this? If not I'll probably have to reinstall the older version!

the only way to find out for sure if it's a RAM limitation, is by looking at how much memory SketchUp is using while you render. You can look at how much RAM is being used by using the windows task manager.

I believe it was crashing at around 1.5Gb

There were a couple of times though, where it didn't crash.. it looked like it was parsing, it said vray was preparing to render the scene and then it just stopped. At first I thought I'd forgotten to press the render button, but it happened a couple of times.

Hi ARQRAMOS
I was able to render the scene at 7000 without any troubles. During the rendering my computer used 3.2 GB of ram. I'm wondering what kind of computer you have and also yous system specification. I guess Devin is right, you could be running out of memory. You could try to use VRImage to make the render.

Thank you Fernando! Do you use the patch to allow sketchup to use more than 2gb of ram? Would that solve my problem?

the latest version of SketchUp 8 allows you to use more than 2gb of memory.

the latest version of SketchUp 8 allows you to use more than 2gb of memory.

SketchUp8 Maintenance Release 1 if you have an 64bit OS.
