  • Hidden lights switch doesn't work

    Hi all,
my Problem is that the "hidden light" Switch doesn't work as it should: I want to create different Renderings with different light sources (capsuled in different components) switched on and off. I usually do that via Layer Control.
But the lights that are hidden by switching off their layer still render light in the Image. Since the "on/off" Switch for lights inside the V-Ray Asset Editor is not saved with the Scene: is there a Workaround for that?
Thanks a lot for help, any hint is appreciated.
    Best, Oliver

    Hello,

Could you please advise what kind of lights you are using? There is a known issue with V-Ray Mesh Lights and the "Hidden lights" switch which will be fixed in the upcoming update.
Keep in mind objects nested in a component can still reside in different layers. For example, if a Light component residing in Layer 1 is nested into a component set within Layer 2, then hiding only Layer 2 will hide the Light in SketchUp's viewport but not in V-Ray's render output.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

Hi Peter, I'm using a IES light in this Scene. If I understand you right, you have localized my Problem: I usually leave all geometry - and all lights - on Layer0 and place only components etc. on different layers - which works for the geometry, but not for VRay. I'll test that immediately!
thanks a lot for your help!
