    Hello,

Thanks again for this great version of V-ray SketchUp. I have noticed the following issues:

1- Transparent png images shows up above viewport rendering.
2-V-rayBlendMtl and V-rayFastSSS2 materilals is not supported in the vrscene import, could you please provide us of what is not supported with Vrscene with the current version?.
3-Multi materials are using "V-Ray Texture Helper.png" image instead of "V-Ray Multi Material.png".
4-Vrmat materials that contain Color Correction which is exported from 3D Max takes different appearance than it should, to make look right I have to multiply the Color Correction values with value of 0.01.
5-The Save button for Irradiance map disk caching is not working when I set the mode to "Incremental add to current map".
6- If I use the "Auto-Save" chechbox instead of the save button while using "Incremental add to current map" mode, the progress bar will keep running even if the render is finished.
7-Coping and pasting A Two sided material to their sub material will make SketchUp crash.

      Hi Mousa,

1- Transparent png images shows up above viewport rendering.
      > This is a known issue that we're still working on.
The thing is that if we resolve it we might loose some of the manipulation handles and selection highlights that are currently visible on top of the VPR overlay.
Do you think this is going to be a big drawback?

2-V-rayBlendMtl and V-rayFastSSS2 materilals is not supported in the vrscene import, could you please provide us of what is not supported with Vrscene with the current version?.
      > There should be no unsupported shaders or lights.
It's strange that you were unable to load and render SSS and Blend materials.
I did a couple of tests and at first glance everything renders just fine.
In the archive attached I've added 2 vrscenes - one exported from Maya and another one from SketchUp. Both seem to import and render as expected
      sssTest.zip

3-Multi materials are using "V-Ray Texture Helper.png" image instead of "V-Ray Multi Material.png".
      > Yes, we are currently handling all utility materials using the same logic and helper texture (independent of the type).
This can be changed(fixed) easily I think.

4-Vrmat materials that contain Color Correction which is exported from 3D Max takes different appearance than it should, to make look right I have to multiply the Color Correction values with value of 0.01.
      > The problem is with the 3ds Max vrmat exporter.
If you export a vrmat and load it back in 3ds Max you'll experience the same issue.
The brightness will be off. The contrast will be set to 0 instead of 1 (in case it hasn't been changed).
There is not much we can do about it except for report it to the 3ds max team.

5-The Save button for Irradiance map disk caching is not working when I set the mode to "Incremental add to current map".
      > The Save button should only be used when you want to save out the map for the last frame rendered.
The "Incremental add to current map" option requires the Auto-Save to be enabled and a valid path to be specified in the Auto-Save-File field (in the advanced parameters of the disk caching).

6- If I use the "Auto-Save" chechbox instead of the save button while using "Incremental add to current map" mode, the progress bar will keep running even if the render is finished.
      > This sounds like a bug. We'll investigate it further.

7-Coping and pasting A Two sided material to their sub material will make SketchUp crash.
      > This is a known limitation that we should resolve in the future.

Thank you for the useful feedback.

      Konstantin

        Hi Shiyan lin,

The artifact that you see is caused by the displacement option called 'Keep Continuity' combined with SketchUp geometry.
This option was designed to seamlessly stitch hard geometry corners .
It modifies the geometry normals to make a smooth transition between surfaces in an angle (90 degrees in your case).
In order for this to work properly some subdivisions(internal edges) have to be added for the mesh.

You can also disable the option which resolves the issue but doesn't stitch the corners.

        Hope that helps.

Thanks for letting me know how to fix the problem!

It's time for Quadfacetool to show its real power with Vray!

          Cool!

            Hi Konstantin,

Thanks for taking these issues in your consideration,

1-Do you think this is going to be a big drawback?
I think that "viewport render" could work in a different way in the future versions of V-ray SketchUp, maybe in the future a new powerful GPU hardwares could be created which could allow us to make our design in the "viewport Render", so seeing the the objects edges, the manipulation handles and selection highlights above the "viewport render" are something essential to make that happen.

-Maybe in the future the "Viewport Render" could have "Hidden Line" face Style with white background and multiply it above the viewport render, and we could turn these edges on or off by using a shortcut commands, that looks too complex too implement I know!

2-There should be no unsupported shaders or lights.
Sorry the texture path for these materials was invalid which make it looks black, that happen when I packed the project and moved it to other PC, seem that "Pack Project" doesn't archive the vrscene textures.

5-The Save button should only be used when you want to save out the map for the last frame rendered.
It works fine when a single frame is finished, but it doesn't work after multiple frames is completed I have recorded the issue:

            Thanks in Advance.

              Hi,

I found the the Following issues:

-2D Displacement is not working correctly if I apply the material to group or component, if I apply it directly to the front and back faces it works fine, is that because the faces don't have a UV coordinates?, if yes could please add this info to V-ray SketchUp document.

-If I enabled the interactive mode for the Skp file in the attachment and after that enabled the displacement, the displacement will work only for the group that has a material applied to its faces.

-If I rename the sub material for Blend, Multi Material, Bump, Toon, Override and Wrapper materials after that closed the file and opened it again the renamed material will be duplicated and these materials will use the materials with old names.

-Also after I have made a few tests with 2D Displacement I noticed that its an awesome feature !

Same Problem here.for material duplication part: I add a generic material and rename it "Wood Floor", I assigned a multisub texture to Diffuse and then I found out there duplicates a new material called "Wood Floor #1"

                other problems here:

                1. Hybird rendering doesn't support 2d displacement? Is that possible to switch to normal displacement automatically when using Hybrid rendering?

                2. It will be great to point out clearly in help docs or tutorial about how to manipulate object texture cordinate correctly in Sketchup(when working with 2d displacement). There might be some possible solutions like using V-ray UV tools or using other third party plugins like Thrupaint SketchUV or WrapR.

What you've pointed out here is correct.
If a 2d displace is applied to a group it works but the texture placement will be incorrect (the material size will be fixed at 1in).
because of that I would recommend you always apply the material to the faces (when using this mode).
It has to do with the UVs and the way SketchUp is handling them.
To be on the safe side you can keep faces that need to be displaced as a separate object and manage them separately.

-If I rename the sub material for Blend, Multi Material, Bump, Toon, Override and Wrapper materials after that closed the file and opened it again the renamed material will be duplicated and these materials will use the materials with old names.
This sounds like a bug. I'll test this some more and update you on that topic.

-Also after I have made a few tests with 2D Displacement I noticed that its an awesome feature !
Yes it is quite fast and accurate compared to what the normal displace can give you.
On the other hand it was designed for 3dsMax/Maya based workflows and geometries and has some limitations in SketchUp.
We are still working on improving the 2D workflow and might be able to share the progress with one of the upcoming updates.

Once again, thank you for the very useful feedback!

                  Regards,

That's correct. I've checked with the GPU team and it seems that we'll not support 2D displacement on the GPU soon.
On the other hand your suggestion can work. Switching the Displacement mode for all materials when using Hybrid is an option.
The only reason why we might stay away from tt is because the Normal/3D displacement is quite memory hungry and with a limited VRam you might not be able to render your scene at all.

                    2. It will be great to point out clearly in help docs or tutorial about how to manipulate object texture cordinate correctly in Sketchup(when working with 2d displacement). There might be some possible solutions like using V-ray UV tools or using other third party plugins like Thrupaint SketchUV or WrapR.
I have plans to record a short video tutorial showing how V-Ray materials are binded to SU ones and how to manage UVs (texture placement).
A tutorial showing different displacement workflows might also be a good idea.

                    Thank you for the feedback!

The material rename problem has been located, resolved and the fix will make it in the next release.

As always, your feedback is highly valuable.
