  • White fringe on EXR

So I am rendering to EXR with an alpha channel and every file I have rendered always ends up with this white fringe around the transparency edges. How can this be eliminated? What's causing it?

Photoshop top menu - layer - matte - defringe may help.. But, over exposed background and reflection-refraction will always cause this kind of artifacts especially with black background..

its because you render against a background that's not black (probably sky) and the alpha edge is premultiplied with the background color. Only way to properly handle that is to remove the sky and have it render on black, and sky as separate layer.

Thank you for this! Exactly what I was looking for.
