  • Dragging Vrscene file in Sketchup viewport

    Hello,

Currently, if the Vrscene file is dragged in SketchUp Viewport, the vrscene is imported as a SketchUp model. Usually the vrscene files contain high-poly geometries that slowdown SketchUp and increase the file size, so dragging the vrscene in Sketchup Viewport and keeping it as a vrscene link (as default option) will give a smoother workflow in most cases.

When you import vrscene to the sketchup, it's imported as a vray proxy, so you can control the amount of the faces that will be shown in the sketchup. This will make sketchup viewport more smooth.

SketchUp counts drag & dropping a file in its viewport as an Import action. If the dragged file is a vrscene, then the VRScene to SKP import will be triggered (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...Scene+Importer). This is intended behavior.
To import vrscene files as self-contained proxies with optimized previews stick to using the Import Proxy toolbar button (or alternatively Extensions > V-Ray > V-Ray Objects > Import Proxy or V-Ray Scene).

        Kind regards,
        Peter

Thank you for the clarifying Peter. Maybe we could have an option to switch between the generated geometry from dropping a vrscene file the viewport (SKP or self contained proxy) , currently dropping dropping a vrscene file inside 3d Max viewport works as as self-contained proxies, so it would be useful to have the same functionality .
