  • Vray 5 : Displacement tool

    Hello,

I wan't to apply this map with white material.

The render show the tiny map with iteration placement into my file. Please find attachement.

How can I apply and paste the texture from the map correctly to my surface?

    Thanks for your time.
    Regards

    Hi Panduru79,

If I understand this correctly, what you're seeing is actually the expected behavior.
If the object has no material assignment or no texture in its material, SU assigns the default UV coordinates to the whole mesh - 1inch texture size.

    1. One way to make the texture appear bigger is to decrease the displacement Texture Placement / Repeat U/V value to something smaller (1 divided by the physical texture size in inches for example).

    2. The better way in my opinion is to use a material with a texture for the base mesh.
This will generate proper UVs in SketchUp and will let you control the displacement size with the material size.
If you don't want to connect a texture to any of the material slots you can take advantage of the following option Material / Binding / Texture Mode / Texture Helper.
This mode will add a dummy texture, displayed in the SU viewport which is not actually going to be rendered.
It'll ensure your mesh has UVs and a size parameter for you to play with.

    Hope that helps,
    Konstantin
