  • How to use clipping mask for materials with dilated textures

Hi all. Poliigon has started adding dilation to many of their textures which, I have learned, is the name for the blurry bars at the top and bottom of their texture maps (see attached)

They also provide a black and white mask map which I imagine is supposed to be used to automatically crop off the blurred areas and tile the remaining 'in focus' portion of the texture. I can't figure out how to apply the mask though - can someone help?

    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hello andy_smith,
    Thank you for your post.

We have discussed your question internally and while in V-Ray for SketchUp you can Crop/Place textures in the Bitmap advanced settings (no mask required), we find that in this case an easier workflow would be to edit textures in image-editing applications beforehand.

Please check the official poliigon page where you can find more information and also an example on how to remove dilation in Photoshop.
