I am going thru the process of making new materials, most of which I pull from arroway. A lot of these materials come with a specular/glossiness map. I was wondering where I would apply that in the vray mateditor to acheive the images they have shown on the arroway website. I know its probably a very basic question but I've never really gone thru the process of making many of my materials from scratch before.

My process is this, I download the materials from arroway, import the diffuse map as a texture in the sketchup model and scale it correctly. Then I create a linked material, add the bump map, and scale it to get it looking right. I've tried putting the specular map in several different places but I can't seem to recreate the images on the arroway website. Any ideas on where this map should be loaded?

    Re: specular map

well thru trial and error I've found that if I add a reflection to the material and then map the specular image from arroway into the "filter" component of the reflection properties in vray I can start to see some highlights. Not sure if this is the typical way to do it, but I am having some success doing it this way.

      Re: specular map

The specular map would generally be put in a reflection layer's highlight glossiness map, or reflection glossiness map. But if you are happy with the results gained from placing it in the filter map then thats fine as well.
