Re: best op. sys. for su+vray ?

Well, there are a number of issues with VfSU on Vista and Vista itself (depending on who you talk to), and because of that XP is really going to be your better bet. As far as your physical setup, 32 bit will only be able to access 3gb of RAM total, and in order to do that it requires messing with boot.ini files. On top of that 32 bit OS can only really access about 1.6-1.8 gbs of memory per process (Micha, can I get a confirmation on that number). 64 bit will allow you to access all 4 gb and you should be able to run all the programs you need, but you'll have to get 64 bit drivers (printer drivers are the hardest to track down, but depending on how many devices you need drivers for this may not be too much of an issue). The other thing that you should be aware of is that unless a program is specifically compiled for 64 bit computing (which SU isn't), then there will still be a limit to the amount of memory that a single process can access (I believe its 2 gb). Hope this helps...Personally I built myself a machine last year with XPx64 and have been very happy with it. All my 32 bit apps work well, and the ones the are 64 bit work even better
