          112,

just use a procedural noisemap as a bump map. It's seamless and works great.
Put some reflection on the water and your ready to go....

                Re: Water

                Nektares,

These maps look nice and usable if you want a little rough water. A small pool of water will have very smooth ripples. For that I use a procedural map, a map thats seamless and generated by the computer. (like the noise or clouds filter in photoshop).

I don't have Vray here at the moment, I will post a little example with the path to the bumpmap in Vray tonight when I'm home again.

                grtz,
                Marc.

                update:
picture of a procedural map water:
                http://picasaweb.google.com/mfleer/W...54028396654338

used: material > bumpmap > noise > Perlin noise option
play with the settings and you will get all kinds of water....

                  Marc

This is cool. Another learning experience! I didn't realise this existed in vray (!), I must have skipped over this one in the manual (?). I've just tried it out and think its great - I will be adding water to my scenes from now on, when the opportunity arises (we don't tend to 'do' water much in Britain - too much of it drops on us anyway!)

                  Regards

                      Re: Water

                      Well,

Those noise maps are prety usefull for all kinds of things. Like noise in reflection, noise in color (like grass with darker and lighter parts). Etc etc.

So I'm glad I could help some of you here. ;D

                      grtz,

                      Marc.
