    Re: Light Portals

Yes it does. Create a rectangular light, and there should be an option for Light Portal.

        Hi sepo..

could you tell me please.. what is the function for using light portal?

coz, i've tried activate it n it doesn't have any change to the scene accept darkening it, even if i increase the multipiler to 1000?

        thanks,

          Re: Light Portals

Light portals are typically used at windows to "gather" light so that it can be sampled better. Basically what a light portal does is that it takes all of the illumination that is behind it and that becomes the color and intensity of the light. So when the light is in Light Portal mode the color and intensity won't do anything because they are not being referenced. To change the color/intensity of a light portal you would need to adjust the environment settings.

Hallo D.. [hope you dont mind, i called you D]

Thanks for your reply.. but myb can you tell me which part of environment "thingy" that i should tweak.

Is that a background image or maybe the physical sun n sky?

Could you give us a short step by step tutorial on how to used it?

            Thanks a lot Guru D,

              Re: Light Portals

You would need to adjust the GI not the background. With an HDR or simple color/multiplier it should be straight forward. With the sun/sky, the parameters between GI and background are linked, so the best way to actually increase the intensity of the Sun/sky without affecting the background is to increase the texture multiplier.

The step by step is fairly easy...place light...enable light portal...change GI

                  Re: Light Portals

OK, this is my experiment result..

                  1. with the light portal
                  2. without light portal (no light)

I dont know, is that just it dalomar? or maybe there's something still unrevealed, i'll keep searching on it..

                  thanks for the hint
