  • Displacement map weird shadows

This is a progress rendering of the project...

There are dark lines in certian parts of the grass with displacment maps. I check to make sure the faces are all one, which is the case. Anyone know how to get rid of them? Any comments and advice would be great.

I think that's most likely an issue with the "lighter" faces being too large. There's a limit with how much a single face can be subdivided for displacement, so what you're likely seeing is the larger faces reaching one level of subdivision and the smaller faces reaching a much denser level. If you can slice up those faces then you might reach a more consistent result.

Awsome! I will give it a shot and let you know how it works. Thanks!

Alright, that kind of worked, but no matter how small or large they are they are always showing up in the same spots. I also tryed recreating the entire face, remapping the textures. And that did nothing.

Not really sure then...my only other guess would be a front face/back face thing, but that doesn't seam like it would really be it. You can send this in as a support ticket by emailing to vfs_support@asgvis.com If the scene is less than 8 mbs you can just attach it to the email. If its more, then put it up on a hosting site like mediafire.com for us to download.
