  • Disco Stu's Disco Ball

I have this rendering that always comes up with spots on the wall. Rumor had it that it was a GI problem, but never was confirmed. I’m not really into the whole disco ball look that is showing up. I am using IR and LC when I get these settings. I can get rid of them by bumping up the subdivisions enormously, but then it takes hours and hours to render.
    Any help would be grateful!

I haven't been able to confirm anything, because I have yet to be sitting in front of a scene that exhibits this behavior. Please send that scene in to support@asgvis.com or to me directly. This issue has kinda been getting on my nerves recently, so I'd like to be able track this down as to what is actually causing the issue.

As to a fix, making sure GI Reflective and Refractive Caustics are unchecked seams to help this (in the Indirect Illumination rollout). Beyond that I would put the Caustic Subdivisions of any lights that you have at 0.

I tried that and it minimized the effect of the dots, but they were still present. I downloaded a bunch of presets from the vray repository and tryed them out, this one worked (Interior_reading_gi.visopt). Let me know what you find out, I will keep looking into it as well. Thanks!

Sorry for the giant logo, but these are all private jobs and I would hate for the client to freak out.
