  • disp question

hey guys... I'm trying to make a nice reed-roof material and my question is if the material can only displace in the "z-axis" (at right angular or something) direction? And if I can make it displace like reed would do, more like overlapping.

    Re: disp question

AFAIK, the answer is yes, displacement in V-Ray only works perpendicular to normals. What you're requesting is "normal mapping" (which uses RGB normal maps instead of grayscale displacement maps) which VfSU doesn't currently support.

      Re: disp question

Oke thnx for answer I know how to make a normal map.... I recently discovered it ..... oke now the question is how would I make it, so that it displace as I want. I want it to "overlap" as reed does in the real world. I could post my diffuse map if some wants to make a disp map for me.... or even better a tutorial or someone who can explain it to me.

here's the texture... if someone wants to give it a try making a displacement map that would be nice
