  • Glass that actually works

    Hi-

I posted an inquiry in the Public forum here and after a couple weeks received 0 responses... http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=7247.0

So, I am posting here with a specific request that I imagine will be easier to address.

I am looking for a a glass material for Vray for Sketchup. I have followed tutorials and scoured forums and youtube and google, but cannot find the information i need to create my own glass mat. Virtually everything i find is for 3Dmax or rhino and/or only covers the settings in a very general manner and thus prove to be quite useless. I have looked into the converters and attempted to use one a few months back on some 3Dmax materials but with no success. I have tried to manually translate the settings from max into sketchup but the menus are different and each have slightly different settings and values... so that didnt really work either.

Does anyone have a tried and true glass material that can be explained setting by setting? If not, does anyone know where the info I need to create my own glass mat from scratch exists?

    Thanks
    -Drake

    Re: Glass that actually works

Depends on what you consider true glass. In Sketchup most glass components are single faced and therefore true glass (including refraction) doesnt seem to work. But on the V-ray for SU website there are several Architectural Glass Materials that work great. Personally I use Glass_Architectural and then just remove the refraction layer (all my windows are single faced glass).
