ID Material - VBF Channel

  • ID Material - VBF Channel

    I noticed the ID Material in the VBF Channels list. I'm not sure if I use it correctly, but it comes out all black.

    The reason I want to use it is for masking out a material in post process.

    How to use this channel properly ?

    hmm.. not sure, but MaterialID was not hooked up in the last version...

    You got RenderID, which gives you an aliased colour for each group/component.


    A while back I made a plugin that would turn all materials black, except the selected one. http://forums.sketchucation.com/view...?f=323&t=15790
    Something you'd have to run on a backup file of your model.
    It did not remove reflection layers etc - which was impossible in the old version of VfSU. But I can do that now. So if it'd be useful I could do a quick update.
    Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

      Yeah, I used it a couple of times and it's a life saver. You might agree with me that Vray ID material would ease on masking a material.

        Yes - Material ID channels would be nice.

          that channel wasn't added on purpose, it was thrown in like the new texture types. Don't know what it is or how it works, but it's there if you want to play with it. Not planning on fixing it any time soon either.

              nice try, but we've got enough on our plate for now. Maybe next full release, but it won't be fixed in the upcoming patch.
