  • Displacement is not working...?

    Hello all,

i have a little problem with the displacement, all the time i used it for a texture, something wrong happens, the texture appears with a kind of shadows and, even different displacement. I´ve trying for a days changing all the options, edge length, max subdivisions... and i dont know what i am doing wrong, the surface oh the follow image has no subdivisions, its only a plane.

    http://img594.imageshack.us/i/displacement.jpg/

but, the thing is, that if i create another component like a simple plane, and applies the same material, displacement works without that strange shadows...

    any idea?

    thanks!

    (Im using Windows 7 64 bits, phenom X4 + 8Gb RAM)

    Re: Displacement is not working...?

    Hi Chenoabere,
It happens because Displacement works on triangles so vray subdividing the surface like your diamond shape face. To fix this divide menualy the face to equally triangles.

Please let me know how it goes.

Have you checked that the normals are all in the same direction?
If you set the SU Style to display default materials, the blue is the back side and white is front side. You don't want blue sides showing.

Well, after many many test, the only way for me to reach a decent result it has been to create a simple square plane and adapting it to the surface i want to create the displacement effect,

        http://img413.imageshack.us/i/66666.png/

it`s hard, but at least it works...

        thnx!

          Re: Displacement is not working...?

          Hi,

I have the same problems of displacement.

          1) a lot of triangle of the grass

          2) my deck roof displacement look funny. i have read the other article about the gray scale and i already download the map from the guy who show on this forum. but still not right on my 3d.

          3) this is not the displacement problem. it's about the color render, my image always coming up more blue grey colour especially the shadow. i did adjust the Ozone to 0 but it doesn't help.

          desperate to get some help.

          currently using 1.48.66.

oh...how can i load up the images?

To adjust the colour tone in the renders one can use the White Balance in the Physical Camera

                Hi thomthom,

the white balance is totally white 255,255,255. is still blue grey in the sense.
should I change to more yellow like sunlight colour?

                regards,

                  Re: Displacement is not working...?

If you image is blueish and you want to reduce that, set your white balance to a blueish colour.

The examples in the V-Ray manual probably explains better: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150S...camera.htm#ex8

Can you upload the model somewhere? I'll be much easier to diagnose hand on.

hope u can help me to figure out. i try a lot of different way but not successful....such as subdivide smaller piece of geometry, change the displacement file to jpg or png...no different

I have read another article in this forum but no success either.

                        looking froward to your help.

That model just had some parts of a building. I don't see what you showed in the screenshots with the grass patches.

oh. this is one of the displacement problem. u can see the roof has been subdivide on render image in triangle and not strange line. start from the coner is strange line then once going to the triangle part then have zinzac displacement.
