  • Sketchup Texture in 1.48.89

    Hi,
I have a very simple metal panel texture which consists of a b/w jpeg of a rectangle. I want to be able to color it in SU and then render that color using VRAY. Back in 1.05.30 I was able to achieve this by setting up a blended texture that had color in slot a and the bitmap in slot b and then set the blend ratio to be 100% towards the color. This allowed me to use the same bitmap as a bumpmap when rendering, and yet the lines of the texture would still show up in SU. And as a bonus I could change the color to whatever I wanted and it would show both in SU and the render.

I was just wondering if this is possible in the new VRay.

    Thanks
    Rob

we don't automatically create the blend texture anymore, we recommend editing the texture in an image editor.

Is it possible to use a texture as a place-holder for a bumpmap? When I setup a bumpmap on a texture that is a solid color there is no way to place/scale it properly using sketchup.

yup, just make an extra diffuse layer (and make sure it's above any other diffuse layers for that material), set a texBitmap for the color, and make the layer fully transparent when you want to render. It's not the most graceful workaround, but since SketchUp's UV system barely exists at all, it's the best we could manage for now.
