    Re: V-Ray and SketchUp 8

Has anyone else had any issues with V-Ray on SketchUp 8?

I'm starting to get those annoying "I worked on this at home, but I had to save it as a SketchUp 7 version so we could work on it in the office" comments from my co-workers, hinting that we should update the software. But, I don't want to make the upgrade to all the computers and later find out that V-Ray no longer works properly.
I am using sketchup 8 with vray 1.48.96 and it is all working fine....

Are there any error messages, or does SketchUp immediately crash? Also, did you just upgrade from 1.05.30 to 1.48.89? When upgrading from 1.05.30, you must run the uninstaller manually from add/remove programs. Either way, I suggest completely uninstalling V-Ray for SketchUp from your machine, (especially if there are two versions installed at the moment) restart the computer, and then install 1.48.89. If that still does not work, please let us know what error messages you're getting when SketchUp loads.
I'm using both vray on one machine. But vray 1.05.30 is installed in sketchup 7 directory and vray 1.48.96 is in sketchup 8... they don't have any issues... both are working fine. seems they don't create problems till they have different root directory.
    Sketchup 8.0.16846, Vray 1.50.22 build 04022013, Core i5 760 3.00 Ghz. (overclocked), 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 SP1 X64

I'm due to upgrade from 7.1 to 8 in January, is there an easy way of transferring Vray, or will I need to contact Asgvis?

              Re: V-Ray and SketchUp 8

just reinstall V-Ray for Sketchup after installing SU8, and make sure you choose the SU8 directory when installing our plugin, it chooses the SU7 folder by default I believe. Your license should stay intact through the uninstall/reinstall process, and you should be able to use the product just fine.

                  Re: V-Ray and SketchUp 8

if you're on Mac, the current public release doesn't work with su8. It's only working in windows. The current beta version works with su8 on mac though.

                    I'm using:
                    sketchup pro 8.0.3117

                      Re: V-Ray and SketchUp 8

The wait between you click render and the window appear is VfSU processing your model. In earlier versions there used to be a progress window - but it's temporarily removed to address some issues.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

                          Re: V-Ray and SketchUp 8

I am having problems with SketchUp Pro 8 crashing on startup, just after the default template is selected. This happens after installing V-Ray for SketchUp 1.48.89

After uninstalling it, SketchUp is fine

Is there a fix to this problem? as I really need to get some decent renders done!

This happens to me as well. I have a sneaky suspicion that SketchUp 8 with Vray doesn't work on Windows XP?

Despite following the same installation procedure as my friends, all of whom uses Windows 7, I am unable to get SketchUp to start up after installing vray.

                          Does anyone have any idea?

                          Im using:
                          SketchUp 8.0.4811.0
                          Vray 1.49.01
Windows xp pro service pack 3
                          Intel Core2 Quad
                          Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz
2.41 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM

The majority of our users use VfS with SU 8 and Windows XP, so no, that's not the problem. Contact our support department, we don't have official support via forums, you have to email support@asgvis.com to contact our support department.
