  • low color resolution

    Hi,

I have this problem: the gradient is divided into steps wich have strange colors, like there are waves and not a linear gradient.

How can I get an higher resolution in colors?

    thx!

It's called "banding" and it is usually caused by your computer's graphics card and not vray and sketchup...

        thx for the answer!

but if I open the image with Photoshop and make on the top of it a gradient, it looks smooth... (tested on a two years old iMac and a 6 months old macbook pro...)

Since it's saved to the image and others can view it as well, by definition it's not just a display issue on his end.

I don't have an answer, but I've seen that effect too sometimes. One idea may be that it's because of using either the default material or too bright material. The other is having low irrmap settings. I know if I use DMC for secondary, I don't have that issue. You could also apply a noise filter post-process to add noise to mask the stepped gradients.

            Thx for all the hints.

I am using a very low GI at 0,2 with only a rectangular light...so I donĀ“t know if it might be that there is something wrong with that.... boh?!
