Batch Rendering: When I set it up (checking batch box and no scene transitions (0) - also turned off(unchecked)) the Batch renders the first two images / scenes and then re-renders the second image / scene tab over and over for the amount of scenes I have ...does not go through and render all the scene tabs. Tried two different times (nights away)... have now downloaded and installed beta 2. Will try again tonight.

Hello, ccaddy,
What you are describing is an old issue that has been already resolved. It should not be occurring in the beta 2 build.
Please let us know if you are still experiencing difficulties with the batch rendering using the latest beta version.
Kind regards,
Peter ChaushevPeter Chaushev

Came in to work to see if the Batch is going ok. Had originally gone well. Now it is doing as I said..same image over and over. Just installed Beta2 and it did it again. I have it set up as good as I can. Went through the first scene and then started re-rendering it again. Not sure how to change this. Have inspected all settings over and over. It did work at one point. Not sure what else to check. Can not upload an image or I would show you the boxes and settings. I took screen grabs but this post will not upload the image once chosen.Last edited by ccaddy; 26-11-2016, 12:37 PM.

Thank you for your reply!
I will investigate thoroughly the batch render based on your feedback.
Please let me know if you notice anything else!
Kind regards,

Yeah - just got back in and it did it again. I waited past the first scene to see if it would go to the next and it did..then it rendered scene two 8 times instead of the other scenes. Not sure how to fix it. Worked once before. Are you sure I "uncheck- scene transitions " in sketchup?

Quick question: is there anyway to batch output vrscenes?
Long: I'm testing out internal and external farms with various queue managers, and I keep running into an issue with animations. The new vrscene files from the beta are working GREAT, however, I'm realizing that they don't have embedded camera animation data within them (this may be obvious to some). In lieu of this, I think the easiest way would be to convert the "tween" animation in SU to individual scene tabs (there are plugins to do this) and then during the batch render process in V-Ray, output a vrscene file that corresponds to the SU scene name. In fact, this would be great in general as a 1-button press process (output vrscene file named as scene tab).
Right now when I batch output, it simply overwrites the .vrscene file, so I only have a singular file with the final camera position (but the frames come out properly). I think a sequentially named .vrscene list would be the final missing piece to output large jobs and animations to large scale local farms (and cloud farms)

When do you have ready the version for Sketchup 2017? Do we need to keep using the beta? Is there a release date?
Thank you.The best that I can do is keep learning, and the Renderings are just a small step to get real.

Thank you.
I can't comment on a release date for a V-Ray 2.0 for SketchUp 2017 compatible build. I would recommend you explore the latest Beta update available at https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray/sketchupBest,

Just a few quick notes after working on our first project using vray3 (using beta from Nov 1:
-Please please please find an alternate abbreviation for MINUTE. This is especially confusing under Proggressive menu and "Render Time (min)" which are above and below "Min Shading Rate" and others. This no joke took me a while to figure out that "min" meant minute on that occasion, as I was reading it as "minimum". I would recommend "MM" or spelling it out. Very confusing
-material id's are not randomizing. This happened a few years back in vray2, though was fixed somewhere along the way. But all materials coming in as a black ID is no good
-is progressive working? I can get it working using default settings at high res (5500px wide), though its very noisy. It will work when the Render Time is set to "0" and I render a region, however, for renderings that need to go 4+ hours (high settings - 5500px wide), it just sort of gets bored and gives up somewhere along the way. This is true for all nodes on swarm and confirmed by checking CPU utilization: the render is not complete and the status bar indicates it is still rendering, however, none of the CPU's are actually using any processing power. In the meantime I'm reverting back to buckets

V-Ray Swarm
Implemented V-Ray Swarm (previously Distributed Rendering)
Implemented the Swarm Manager - A web interface that lists all the machines used for rendering. It gives access to status and additional information about the distributed rendering process
Added Cap CPU Utilization toggle - Limit the utilization of the local machine CPU (to a maximum of one thread). Continue using your computer without noticeable slowdown, while the other Swarm nodes are rendering the image
"Added Cap CPU Utilization toggle" may be the answer for this. You can just toggle it on the swarm window.
Haven't tried it myself, but have this a go?
