  • Import VISOPT Options

Would be nice to be able to tell VR which options to import from a VISOPT file. Max does something like this when you import saved render settings. Example: Import just the GI settings but leave the Camera and Output settings as you have them.

You can modify the xml file (that's the format of the visopt file) to do just that... delete out the section you don't want changed, and it only imports what's left. (At least it worked that way last time I did that - a few years ago.)

Whats the best way to edit this kind of file. I opened it in Notepad and the thing is a damn unorganized mess. It would take years to figure it all out.

in notepad++ change the language to XML, and then go to View->Fold All (Alt + 0). It will make working with any of our xml documents a lot easier. Winmerge might let you quickly migrate settings from one file to another. I think I've done that in the past with some degree of success.

I do think this should still be a wish list item. Most novice users would be scared to play with such things. A simple check box upon loading would be helpful.

Maybe an option to bring up a checkbox ("advanced" option)? I wouldn't necessarily want to go through a check-box each time I load a visopt...

this feature was actually something we wanted, we just never got around to making the UI for it, because it's not something a large portion of our users would use. It is something we want to do though.
